Beachy Keen

As I was going through my posts for the week trying to decide what to write about I realized that everything I posted this week started with a "B". Bedrooms, Beams, Barstools and Bathrooms! In keeping with my newfound theme I thought I would post this Beach house on the market in Newport Beach. Brand new construction with 3300 sqaure feet it is listed for $4,295,000.00. I love the way they did the bathrooms in this house! For more information on this listing go here...Beach House.

Modern Bath

Contemporary bathrooms usually have a spa quality about them. The clean lines of the tile and cabinetry equals a peaceful and relaxing space. When accessories are kept to a minimum and toiletries and products are tucked into niches this makes the whole bathing experience serene and calming. Which of these bathrooms do you find the most relaxing?

Take a Seat

Sitting at a bar can be extremely uncomfortable when the barstool is ill fitting. However, when the barstool is comfortable that can be the best seat in the house! My preference is for upholstered barstools with a back for the uttmost comfort. Swivels are great for taking in a wider view but only when neccessary. I don't like the those look as much. Her are a few favs...

High Beams

I love when a ceiling becomes another feature of a room. This can be done through paint, mouldings, beams, soffits or shapes. Today I was drawn towards wood beams in the ceiling.  The beams add another layer of richness to these spaces...

I love how these beams add so much warmth to this super white kitchen!

Restful Retreats

I have to admit I spend a ridiculous amount of time in my bed! I love my bedroom. Its so peaceful and relaxing that I look forward to the end of my day so I can go back to my room! Restful bedrooms are an important part of staying healthy. After all we do sleep for almost half of our lives why not have the most comfortable space we can afford! Here are some bedrooms that make 8 hours a day look too easy!!

Points of Interest

I love accessories that don't look mass produced. Vases, boxes, frames, and bowls made by artisans are always the pieces that last forever. Interior designer Jay Jeffers has a new store front specializing in accessories and furniture.

Jay Jeffers' Store Cavalier

Cavalier's flagship store in San Fransico sells throws, pillows, antiques and vintage pieces. Here is a small selection of accessories that caught my attention...

Glazed Over

Ann Sacks has a new line of glazed terracotta tiles by Daniel Ogassian. These bold and graphic tiles are meant to be installed as a feature wall. I love how they look 3-D! They come in a variety of shapes and colors. The Geo pattern is featured in their installation example. Cola, Metallic Green Grey, and Wheat are shown below.

Nautical by Nature

I have lived in Southern California my whole life and as a result I have a soft spot for nautical novelties. I know! It's not exactly the epitome of sophisticated interior design but it can be done in an elegant way. It can also be be done just for the fun of it! Here are some examples of both...

Traditionally Pretty

Usually when I think of Florida design I think of bright colors, contemporary furniture, and modern art. OK and yes Pink Flamingos! Maybe its just because I watched years of Miami Vice in the 80's??? This is why I was surprised to stumble across this traditional home located in Palm Beach, Florida. It's classic and pretty and yet still feels comfortable. It's for sale...if you're interested click here.
